On 26 October 2026, the Whitechain L1 stopped producing blocks at block 50961389, and its full state became the genesis of Whitechain L2. The legacy L1 now works in read-only mode: you can look up balances, blocks, and transactions, but you cannot send new transactions.
The L1 sunset stages
- L1 block production ended. The L1 validator stopped, and the last block, 50961389, became the snapshot block.
- State dump and L2 genesis. The full L1 state was exported and transformed into the L2 genesis.
- Domain cut-over. whitechain.io, explorer.whitechain.io, and rpc.whitechain.io now serve the L2. The legacy L1 moved to legacy hostnames: https://legacy.whitechain.io, https://legacy.explorer.whitechain.io, and https://legacy.rpc.whitechain.io (read-only).
- L1 read-only period. The legacy explorer and RPC answer read requests only. No new L1 transaction is possible.
Please note that stages 1, 2, and 3 were completed on 26 October 2026. The legacy L1 stays in read-only mode, and no decommissioning date is set. You can read and export L1 data now; export what you need, because the legacy L1 will eventually be shut down.
FAQ
Why is my transaction history not carried over?
The migration copies only the final state of the chain (balances, contract code, storage, nonces), not the record of how it got there. Transaction history and event logs stay on the old chain.
I have a transaction pending on L1. What happens to it?
Pending mempool transactions were not migrated and never executed on the L1. Because the chain ID did not change, a transaction you signed for the L1 is still valid on L2 at the same nonce, and anyone who holds the signed transaction can submit it. To make the transfer, or to cancel the old transaction, send a new transaction on L2 from the same address with that nonce.
Can I add the legacy L1 to my wallet as a separate network?
No. The legacy RPC returns the same chain ID as L2, 1875, and a wallet cannot hold two networks with the same chain ID. Read legacy L1 data on https://legacy.explorer.whitechain.io.
What happened to the legacy L1 testnet?
The legacy L1 testnet (chain ID 2625) was not migrated. It stopped on 26 October 2026, and its endpoints are removed by 30 October 2026. Contracts and balances on chain ID 2625 do not appear on Whitechain Sepolia (chain ID 1874), which is the testnet to use now.
